Truth in Hidden Places

And yes, you want truth

in the most hidden places;

you teach me wisdom

in the most secret space

(Psalm 51:6)

Truth in Hidden Places

Good Day Family,

We are not in the season of Lent, a time for reflection on our lives in light of God’s presence, love, and plan. We take a journey that leads us to the cross and reminds us of the lengths that God will go in order to reach us.

Many followers of Jesus will choose to give up something to honor the sacrifice that Christ made to fulfill his mission on earth. Others will take something on to follow Jesus who took on humanity that we might be reconciled to God. The psalmist reminds us that most of all, the ministry of Jesus is build on truth.

Hidden spaces often convey an attempt to hide something, but there’s no place we can hide from God. And, the Lord wants us to bring our truth to God. Secret places are often spaces where the truth is concealed, yet the psalmist believes those places can be transformed with God’s wisdom that transforms us. This psalm is one of repentance, yet it also contains hope. There’s the hope in a God who can be trusted and known. There’s the blessed assurance that we belong to God, and we can claim God. There’s the promise of God’s abiding presence that sustains, nurtures, and encourages us on our journeys.

Seeking God’s Wisdom and Truth,

Be well,

Pastor Cheryl

Let us encourage one another. Let us love our neighbor. Let us be the church.
