Pastor's Note 12.13.2019

“The person whose help is the God of Jacob—

the person whose hope rests on the Lord their God—

is truly happy!” (3 John 1:2)

Good Day Family,

God is the source of our happiness. This Advent Season reminds us that God comes to us, enters into our lives, and works for our restoration and peace. But, this reality is not limited to the days leading up to Christmas, it remains true each and every day of our lives. I love that this passage of Scripture refers to the Lord as the God of Jacob. Jacob, we remember, came to wrestle with God and learned to hold on tightly to God until God blessed him.

That lesson stands powerfully for us today. In the midst of difficulties or despair, hold on to God. When confronted with new challenges, turn to God. And when all is well with you, rejoice with God. In all things, remember the source of our happiness and our help rests with the Lord, who renews and transforms our lives with power and might.

Resting on God,

Be well,

Pastor Cheryl
