Pastor's Note 01.03.2020

How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord of heavenly forces!

My very being longs, even yearns, for the Lord’s courtyards.

My heart and my body will rejoice out loud to the living God!

(Psalm 84:1-2)

Good Day Family, and Happy New Year!

I have a planner that titles the blank page before January 1 as “Turning the page to a new year.” Every single day gifts us with a new opportunity, a fresh start, and a blank page upon which to write and re-write our story. But a new year provides a natural time of transition for reflection upon the time that has passed and the time to come. This month, our worship series will lean into that time as we will be “Seeking Wisdom.”

In addition, each Sunday, we will have a special component in our worship services. The first Sunday, we will enjoy Communion and Healing Prayer. I will pray individually and confidentially for anyone who desires while communion is served. On the second Sunday, as we remember Jesus’ baptism, we will also remember our own through Baptism Renewal. The third Sunday, we will have Installation of Officers as we bless, commission, and consecrate our leadership team for the upcoming year. Finally, on the fourth Sunday, we will formally receive new members into our faith family. (By the way, there will be an Exploring Membership Class following service on Sunday, January 12.)

What a time in the life of our church! Join in worship, renewal, and reflection as we come together in praise, thanksgiving, and anticipation for what God has done, is doing, and will do at First Church!

Seeking Wisdom,

Be well,

Pastor Cheryl
