IN THE HEAVENS AND ON THE EARTH

Because all things were created by him:

both in the heavens and on the earth,

the things that are visible

and the things that are invisible.

Whether they are thrones or powers,

or rulers or authorities,

all things were created

through him and for him.

(Colossians 1:16)

In the Heavens and on the Earth

Good Day Family,

Earlier this week, NASA released new photographs of the universe. Because of advancements in technology, these images were unlike any seen before. There was more depth, distance, and clarity found in them. I found myself moved beyond measure to see these images. I thought of the words of the psalmist, “The heavens declare God’s glory….” What an awesome creation God has made! And, what a blessing and miracle to be able to see the universe from billions of light years away. It’s truly unfathomable. But, we get to see it.

I imagine the first disciples, once they finally realized that they had been walking, talking, living, and serving with the Living God. Our awe and humbled delight in those images can only give us an inkling of their experience. At the same time, we can find God in the intricate beauty of a butterfly or in the sweet fragrance of fresh fruit. We can encounter the Holy One in a conversation with a loved one or even a stranger. God is in heaven and on earth, performing miracles, revealing Godself, and surprising us with the vastness and care of creation both near and light years away.

Praise God for the reminder that we are part of this beautiful creation! That the same God who placed every star in the sky orchestrated every cell in our bodies. Glory to God…in the heavens and on the earth.

In Awesome Wonder,

Be well
